Choosing The Right Fragrance for You
Choosing a new fragrance can be fun or it can be confusing.
Follow these basic steps and you are sure to find something that you will love.
1. Know the style of fragrance that you prefer.
The six main types of fragrance are
1. Florals – sweet, romantic and feminine with the scent of a particular flower or a blend of flowers.
2. Citrus- tangy and fresh
3. Orientals- intense and exotic fragrances with scents of musk, vanilla and spices.
4. Oceanic or Water – these resemble the scent of the sea.
5. Greens- fresh energetic perfumes that remind you of the outdoors.
6. Woodsy-Clean fresh scents with hints of bark, moss and other forest things.
You may even like different types of scents in different seasons.
2. Next, sample a different fragrance whenever you are out and about and have the opportunity.
3. Try it on your wrist where you can smell it several times through out the day after applying it.
4. Don’t smell it immediately after applying it as you may smell the alcohol most strongly at first.
5. The fragrance will change over time as most fragrances have 3 layers – a top note, middle note and base note.
You need to sniff it at different stages to make sure that you enjoy it after it settles on you.
Remember what you have tried and see what it is like on you a few hours after trying it. If the scent has disappeared it may not be right for you.
